Not all RV maintenance needs to be done by a professional. Read on for do-it-yourself RV maintenance projects!
For the Tires
An RV’s tires will experience the most wear and tear given their direct exposure to constantly changing conditions. The more you drive your RV, the more attention your tires will need if they’re going to keep transporting you from place to place.
This makes it your job to keep an eye on your tires for any leaks, tears or damage to your treading that could lead to serious damage. You may also notice small objects lodged in your tire’s treading that could result in punctures if not removed. Make sure to look out for these things, and also take the necessary steps to keep your air pressure at an adequate level before every camping trip.
For the Roof
RV roof leaks can be a big problem. The cost of repairs can quickly add up when you don’t catch them early enough!
Here’s how you avoid this problem in advance: just use some extra sealant on top of the original roof seals. This can drastically extend its lifespan as well as boost its effectiveness in keeping water out of the RV.
For the Plumbing
Proper maintenance of the plumbing and water systems is essential for ensuring a reliable supply of fresh water and preventing leaks or water damage.
Inspect all plumbing connections, including hoses, fittings, and faucets, for signs of leaks or damage. Test the water pump and hot water heater for proper operation and check for any signs of corrosion or rust. Drain and flush the fresh water tank regularly to remove sediments and prevent bacterial growth.
